Adil Haider

Former Dean Aga Khan University

Pakistani American trauma surgeon and Former Aga Khan University Dean, Founder of Boston Health AI, and co-founded Doctella and is an expert on racial disparities in trauma care. He won the 2017 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Haider has mentored 150+ trainees and advanced surgical outcomes of research worldwide. He remains Professor at AKU and Editor-in-Chief of the AKU Manual of Clinical Practice Guidelines, promoting evidence-based care in Pakistan and beyond.

Adil Haider is a board-certified trauma and acute care surgeon. He earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University, an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins, and completed surgical and trauma fellowships at Johns Hopkins. He worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital (2007–2014), led Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s Center for Surgery and Public Health (2015–2018), and is now at Aga Khan University. 

Adil Haider is Dean of Aga Khan University Medical College (2018–2025) and Director of Disparities and Emerging Trauma Systems at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (2018–present). He has held leadership roles in JAMA Surgery, the Association for Academic Surgery, Society of University Surgeons, and surgical research centers, including CSPH, CSTOR, and Howard-Hopkins Surgical Outcomes Collaborative. Previously, he was Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins (2011–2014).
